The
accolades for Mauree Gibson just keep coming.
Ms.
Gibson, of Central Lee Community Schools,
was the state winner of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize for her
science project entitled “Environmental Effects of Industrial Run-off
on Daphnia magna.” Representatives
from IWPCA selected Ms. Gibson’s project as the winning entry at the State Science and
Technology Fair of Iowa held at Ames on March 26, 2004. She went
on to represent Iowa at the national Stockholm Junior Water Prize
competition in Colorado in June, 2004.
Now, IWPCA has learned
that Mauree will have her paper published
in the first issue of Youth Water Research Journal, an
international publication that highlights research works carried out by
students and young water professionals. Mauree is one of only two U.S.
student-researchers accepted for publication in the inaugural issue of the
Netherlands-based journal.
Once again,
congratulations Mauree for a job well done!
