| IDNR has requested IWPCA
member participation in two stakeholder meetings that are scheduled to
be held January 21, 2005 at the Wallace Building. Input is needed on
NPDES fees and the upcoming 2006 spike in NPDES permit renewals. We
anticipate that one meeting will be held in the morning and the second
meeting in the afternoon. If you are interested in participating in one
or both of these efforts, contact Carla Schumacher at 515-440-2373.
Additional scheduling and location information will be sent to those
participating.
Current legislation allows IDNR to collect NPDES permit fees, the
problem is the fees go to the General Fund. IDNR is working on language
changes to have collected fees go to an NPDES permit fund. This will be
an important meeting to attend. We will likely be limited to 8-10
participants and we will want to represent our small, medium and large
utilities, as well as having an industrial member too. |
