What is the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association?

The Iowa Water Pollution Control Association (IWPCA) is the Member Association (MA) of the Water Environment Federation for the State of Iowa.   Upon joining the Federation, you also become a member of the local association in your area.  There are currently 65 MA's, all having similar objectives to the Federation but on a local level.

  
What is the Water Environment Federation?

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a non-profit, educational organization comprised of more than 41,000 water quality specialists from every profession in the field.  The Federation represents civil, design, and environmental engineers; biologists; bacteriologists; local and national government officials; treatment plant operators; laboratory technicians; chemists; students; teachers; industrial technologists; and equipment manufacturers/distributors.

Federation Periodicals

Water Environment & Technology
The monthly membership publication of the Federation, Water Environment & Technology presents timely coverage of the latest environmental issues, wastewater treatment technologies, and federal policies.  Monthly departments include regulatory updates, problem solvers, research notes, products, viewpoints, and many more.

Water Environment Research
A bimonthly, peer-reviewed publication developed to serve the needs of engineers, scientists, researchers, academics; and other professionals interested in new assessment methods, water and wastewater treatment processes, and water problems and solutions.

Industrial Wastewater
A bimonthly magazine for anyone interested in the application of science, regulations and technology to industrial wastewater management and related activities.   The magazine covers a variety of issues, including regulations, treatment technologies, resource recovery and recycling, and pollution control strategies, as well as topics concerning hazardous waste, air pollution control, and soil and groundwater remediation.

Water Environment Laboratory Solutions
A newsletter for environment and water quality laboratory professionals.   Articles examine pertinent biological and chemical analysis information and current laboratory management, regulatory and technical topics.

Operations Forum
Operations Forum is a monthly magazine dedicated to the needs of operations and maintenance personnel and others involved directly and indirectly with wastewater treatment facilities.  The Forum covers plant management, safety, collection systems, process control, job opportunities, and more.

Water Environment Regulation Watch
A monthly newsletter covering federal legislative issues, and topics of interest in the water quality industry.  Water Environment Regulation Watch covers such topics as grants, funds, Superfund, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and more.

Biosolids Technical Bulletin
NEW! The only technical newsletter covering every aspect of biosolids management.  Biosolids Technical Bulletin is specifically designed for technical professionals who are involved in any aspect of biosolids processing, handling, management, beneficial reuse or disposal.  No other newsletter can provide you with the technical biosolids data you need for less...from the only organization with the technical expertise to offer it.  WEF's Biosolids Technical Bulletin will allow you to tap into an international network of biosolids experts.

Federation Highlights
The Federation's monthly membership newsletter, Federation Highlights, keeps you up-to-date on current events in the field, happenings at the Water Environment Federation, members "on the move," and Member Association news.

IWPCA Reporter
The Reporter is a quarterly publication of the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association.  The newsletter keeps the Association's membership up-to-date on local issues, activities, and topics.

WEF and IWPCA encourage their members to contribute news and feature articles to these periodicals, and look to their members as valuable resources.

Young Professionals Connections
YP Connections is an electronic newsletter prepared by the WEF Students and Young Professionals Committee.  It provides valuable guidance to emerging water quality professionals in areas such as leadership development, career planning, and opportunities for involvement.
